Display Screen

The display screen shows you the matching colors as squares (swatches) in the middle, with the chosen color as the background. You can adjust the brightness and saturation of the background by using the sliders. You can also select any one swatch by tapping on it: the selected swatch will display a thin black border. You can now use the sliders to adjust brightness and saturation of that swatch. Remember that the color with altered brightness and saturation will still match the chosen color, because it belongs to the same color family (please see Basics of Color Matching for more information).

You can drag the swatches to reposition them. Repositioning allows you to see how different colors fit together. Taping on the swatch once will allow you to use sliders to adjust the swatch's brightness and saturation. Double-tapping will set the swatch's color as the chosen (background) color. If you set the chosen color this way, you can reset the swatches by tapping on the Wheel Tab and back on the Display Tab.

colorSutra calculates matching colors based on the traditional painter's color wheel (RYB color space). The largest swatch represents the complementary color. The top two rectangles represent adjacent colors, and the bottom two rectangles--split complementary colors.
